My collection of little houses have been chosen to be exhibited in the Craft in the Bay gallery next month-Eeek!!
Identity is one of the central issues in contemporary applied art which informs the theory behind my art practice. The thread that pulls my art practice together is narrative.
Although the strong subject matters appear to be memory and family, narrative is the visual description being the concept that viewers can depict in fragments. Autobiographical narrative is a recurrent theme in the work I produce, I feel that metaphor expresses the deeply nostalgic experiences the individual pieces revisit and present. A narrator is described as a collector of history, who creates a private museum of life experiences through objects transformed through inputting material culture. I use nostalgia as a sense of release, allowing it to become a manageable reality.
